Fernando Sor (1778 - 1839) was a Spanish guitarist and composer, born in Barcelona. In Spain he is sometimes known as the "Beethoven of the Guitar". This piece is somewhat unusual as a transcription from a guitar duet.
Malats, Joaquin (1872 - 1912). One of the first to perform Albeniz´s Iberia was the formidable Barcelona pianist Malats. An admired virtuoso in Europe and the United States, Malats composed a lot of salon music, of which the Serenata española (piano solo) is the most popular.
Isaac Albéniz (1860 - 1909) was a Spanish pianist and composer, best known for his piano works based on folk music idioms, many of which have been transcribed by others for the guitar.
