Launch into July with some new music for your trio or classroom! Some of of our favourites include:
Three Sketches for Three Guitars - Kevin Love
"These are three short colour pieces based on some piano music that I wrote for my friend's daughter; they were first realized as 'Two sketches for Two Guitars" and have now been significantly extended and expanded for three guitars. They are depictions of her and her two siblings. “Waltz” is a deep and dreamy 12 year old girl; “The Runner” is a 10 year old soccer - playing boy; “Beguine” was a sentimental portrait of a teenage girl that somehow became a Latin dance."
10 Trios for Beginning Guitarists - Randal Rhoades
This collection by RG Rhoades represents a fresh, interesting and exciting addition to beginner-level guitar ensemble repertoire. The use of simple rhythms, repetitive fingering patterns, short musical phrases, and a limited note range make the individual parts of each trio playable by the most novice guitarist, and yet have a synergistic effect when played together, resulting in a captivating, unique and contemporary soundscape that offers a pedagogical benefit, too. "Ten Trios for Beginning Guitarists" are certain to provide the instructor, performer, and listener with a rewarding musical experience!
Four Short Fun Trios - Gunar Ulrich
Here's a taste of swing, jazz and blues in a little collection for guitar trio. They're fun and not too hard to play.
An die Musik (To Music), Op. 88 No. 4 - Franz Schubert
Voice part included (German, English). Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828) was an Austrian composer. He wrote some 600 Lieder, nine symphonies, liturgical music, operas, and a large body of chamber and solo piano music. He is particularly noted for his original melodic and harmonic writing.
Spanish Fantasy - Henry Wadsworth
This trio that can also be a guitar orchestra selection, which is the way I last presented it. I had a guitar class of middle school kids that loved it and we earned a gold medal at a competition with it! It's fun for adults too, and not that difficult.
