Top Hat is the second quartet from "Three Entertainments", light-hearted, descriptive vignettes originally for flute and guitar. It was written to evoke tap dancing and I had in mind two old gentlemen who are "trading moves", perhaps in memory of earlier performances together. If it feels right to add a trill or a glissando, please do so.
