Jean-Francois Dandrieu (1682 - 1738) was an influential French composer. A student of Moreau, he was a gifted and precocious child and gave his first public performances when he was 5 years old, playing the harpsichord for Louis XIV, King of France, and his court. He was appointed organist at St. Merry and later accepted the same duties at St. Barthélemy. In 1721, Dandrieu assumed the very important position of Royal chapel organist.
