Variety is the hallmark of this interesting, entertaining, yet simple arrangement of Good King Wenceslas. The melody, introduced in a traditional chorale-style, is restated by the 2nd guitar part in the bass register and supported by a playful ostinato figure divided between the other guitars. This is contrasted in the next section where the meter changes to 3/4 for a light waltz feel and the accompanying contemporary harmony provides an unexpected tension. The piece concludes with a return to the initial chorale-style and a bold 'maestoso' ending.
