Three Entertainments are intended to be light - hearted, descriptive vignettes - have fun with them! If it feels right to add a trill or a glissando, please do so. "Top Hat" was written to evoke tap dancing and I had in mind two old gentlemen who are "trading moves", perhaps in memory of earlier performances together.
